The Lodge – How to get there

If you have already decided to visit us, here are a packing list and some recommendations to help you get ready:

The journey to the Galapagos Islands starts in Quito or Guayaquil. The only viable way to travel to the Islands is by a commercial flight. These are the available routs:

Since the flights leave in the morning, an overnight stay is almost always required in either Quito or Guayaquil. We operate with AVIANCA flights AV1632 and AV1633. It takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to Baltra´s airport.

Upon arrival to Baltra, you have these options to reach Isabela Island: Transfer (bus + car) to Puerto Ayora to board the speed boat (chartered or public) to Puerto Villamil (2 hours and 30 minutes approximately each way) Inter islands flight with a local airline from Baltra to Puerto Villamil (30 minutes approximately each way) Scalesia Galapagos Lodge is located in the highlands of Isabela Island, about 20 minutes from the town of Puerto Villamil.

The lodge is nestled in the center of 16 hectares (40 acres) of property in the middle of a magical forest with a spectacular view of the coast of Isabela Island and the Pacific Ocean.

  • Plastic bags to protect cameras, binoculars, film, etc… from rain
  • Sea sickness medication (optional – please check with your doctor)

*FOR NATIONAL FLIGHTS NO MORE THAN 20KG PER PERSON AND ONE REGULAR SIZE CARRY-ON BAG 7KG.

*FOR EMETEBE FLIGHTS (INTERISLANDS) NO MORE THAN 11KG PER PERSON – EXTRA WEIGHT IS $2 PER POUND

PLEASE BE SURE TO ARRIVE AT THE GUAYAQUIL OR QUITO AIRPORT (TERMINAL NACIONAL) ON TIME TO TAKE YOUR GALAPAGOS FLIGHT (1 hour and 30 minutes prior to departure)

ONCE YOU ARRIVE THERE PLEASE GO TO THE INGALA COUNTER TO GET YOUR INGALA TRANSIT CARD US$20 PER PERSON. AFTER THIS, PLEASE GO TO SICGAL (Inspection and Quarantine System for the Galapagos Islands). They search visitors luggage for forbidden items such as seeds, plants, fruits, etc. to avoid the introduction of pests and diseases into the islands.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BRING YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT WITH YOU. A PHOTOCOPY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

PARK ENTRANCE FEE HAS TO BE PAID IN CASH DOLLARS ONLY.

  • Beautifully designed, Scalesia Lodge recently inagurated on September 2015 will offer comfort and first class service.
  • Scalesia Galapagos Lodge is located in the highlands of Isabela, about 20 minutes (9 miles / 14 kilometers) from Puerto Villamil. The lodge is nestled in the center of 16 hectares of property in the middle of a magical forest with a spectacular view of the coast of Isabela Island and the Pacific Ocean.
  • The most pristine of the 3 populated islands, Isabela is home of six large volcanoes. The island is divided into two sections, with the northern half of the island famous for its wild and remote environment characterized by shallow waters. The southern part of the island casts a shadow over the north, with its towering volcanoes and spewing fumaroles.
  • In terms of wildlife Isabela concentrates a vast majority of all species found in the Galapagos. In Puerto Villamil area you can find an abundance of blue footed boobies, pelicans, penguins, flamingos, herons, ducks, finches, tropical birds, sea turtles, sea lions, marine iguanas, manta rays, sharks, eals, tropical fish. Galapagos tortoises as well as land iguanas roam free in Sierra Negra Volcano. Sally lightfoot crabs, hawks, owls, dolphins, whales among others species -are often spotted.

  • Baltra´s airport transportation fee (US$5 per person for Tame flights – other airlines free)
  • Transportation from Baltra to Isabela and back (can be arranged upon request).
